About Me

My name is Jainelys Sierra and I am a senior at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy. I have been attending SMSA since sixth grade. My biggest passion is spending time with animals. I have been volunteering at Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center in Wethersfield for almost two years and I have worked with a variety of animals that have needed our care. However, one animal stood out and sparked the idea for my capstone. When I first started volunteering at the Nature Center, we had a dove named Rocco. One day I saw him have a seizure for the first time and I was the one who had to care for him and hold him until his seizure ended.  In this moment I wanted to make sure that this would never happen to another animal again. I wanted to educate people on how to take care of animals so they would be safe and prevent animals more animals from becoming like Rocco.

Mission Statement

I have always had a passion for caring for animals and people. There is something about children and animals that I have always loved, their innocence and purity with everything that they do. I will be attending UCONN and majoring in Animal Science and later pursue a career in Nursing to be a neonatal nurse.
